Purdue Graduate School ('05-'06) - Semester III

Time continues to fly by, and I still find myself lucky enough to be at Purdue University :-)

ECE 264 - Advanced C Programming

That's right! I'm so bad at programming I had to retake the sophomore-level advanced C programming course. Err, wait a minute. How did I get into grad school if I'm that bad at programming?! Oh no! No!!! I'm actually the instructor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No joke though, I actually was the instructor for this class. I had two teaching assistants and an undergraduate grader that worked "for me." It was a truly amazing experience - I loved it. I was given full autonomy of the class, from developing the curriculum to assigning final grades. It was a great experience, and when it was all said and done the students seemed to think I did well with the monumental task that I set out to complete. It was very rewarding, educational, and fun.

BAND 110 - Marching Band

That's right, six years of marching band! This year comes with a twist, though - no bowl game. I decided to return from my self-imposed sabbatical that I took last year and took on the position of student leader once again - specifically the section leader this time around. We had a pretty decent season, barring some minor issues. I learned a bit more about how to lead giant herds of people, and I as always had a lot of fun. The Purdue "All-American" Marching Band is truly world class and composed of great people. The day that I am no longer associated with the ensemble will be a very sad day indeed.

As it turns out this year came with a few twists. One of them, which I guess isn't really a twist, is that Professor William D. Kissinger is retiring at the end of the year. I'm sure more regarding this will come about in my next semester summaries...as well as the final and unfortunate twist.
