Great Smoky Mountains Trip Day 3 - October 12, 2008
Today we hiked well over 10 miles up to the summit of Mt. Cammerer where we experienced breathtaking views and an old fire lookout. It was an awesome day. Right when we were ready to head down we ran into one of the trail maintainers who recommended a "shortcut." His description of the shortcut involved the phrase "tarzan-style" and ended up being fairly accurate. Apparently when the lookout was in operation the person who manned it would use the shortcut to go all the way down to the road where his wife would pick him up. An interesting story. Regardless, it was a fantastic day of hiking.
