Michigan UP Trip Day 3 - August 8, 2019

The plan for today was to make it to the Keweenaw Rocket Range at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Noticing a fairly large structure while departing the Black River State Forest, I stopped to investigate. It turned out to be a former ski jumping facility that still offers tours. I was able to ride the chair lift up to an elevator that then took me seventeen floors up onto an amazing structure. It was a bit windy, so I got to see some amazing views while slowly rocking back and forth on a giant, steel structure. It was awesome.

Following my detour, I continued on toward the Rocket Range. Sadly my motorcycle was being fairly uncooperative, burning more oil than anticipated. I had to take a second detour to obtain more oil. This ate up a good part of the day, so I only made it as far as Michigan Tech. I spent the night in a nearby campground while enjoying feeling a bit at home with the college campus nearby.
